The story

Join Thea Stilton and the Thea Sisters on an adventure packed with mystery and friendship! While Violet is taking an art class in the Netherlands, her friend's father mysteriously disappears! The missing mouse is a renowned botanist -- and his disappearance is linked to the rare black tulip. The Thea Sisters are eager to help find him. It's an adventure through the windmills, flowers, and canals of Holland!

What it’s like

Bright, cheerful children's-book pages with lots of illustrated spreads, the kind of layout where a small cartoon mouse in a sweater sits beside a yellow caption box and a sketched windmill fills the margin. The prose is short, chatty and easy to skim, with quick scene breaks and frequent exclamation points, so it reads fast and bounces along. Its Dutch setting arrives in clean postcard details: canals, tulip fields in blocks of red and yellow, cobbled lanes and wooden bridges, the sort of gentle daylight that never gets gloomy. The vibe is light, sunny and a little bit playful, with a dash of puzzle-solving curiosity rather than real suspense. Intensity is very low: no violence or gore, only a missing-person thread handled with reassurance and a mild sense of urgency. It suits a quiet afternoon, a read-aloud before bed, or a young reader's first mystery, and it is written for young readers, especially girls aged seven to ten, who enjoy friendship-centred teams, puzzles and cheerful travel.
