The story

Play with and against other players online in the post apocalyptic world of the 28th century. You become a citizen of one of the last mega cities on Earth (Neocron) and it is up to you whether you want to experience exciting adventures or just lead a normal life in this virtual world.

What it’s like

Set in a sprawling, grimy megacity, this persistent online world reads as cyberpunk and post-apocalyptic, with a cold, far-future sci-fi feel where hard-edged urban textures and the hum of a crowded metropolis carry the mood. It suits long evenings at a PC, a session with friends, or a slow, drifting hour of wandering the streets between errands. The rhythm alternates between idle, lived-in routine and sudden bursts of gunfire, since players can roam quietly, trade and socialise, or pick fights with each other in open-world combat. The tone is steady and businesslike rather than tender, with a low, ambient hum of danger underneath the everyday. Violence is ongoing and mostly shooter-style combat, with player-versus-player clashes adding real unpredictability, so it is not a gentle pick for anyone wanting calm. This is for players who want a shared, persistent city to live in, who enjoy both the social drift of an MMO and the adrenaline of open conflict, and who are happy to invest time in building a presence among other people.
