The story
After his partner, Javed, is killed, Arun takes care of the four orphaned children with the help of Geeta. He discovers Javed's death was a homicide, and as he investigates, he learns that Geeta is leading a double life.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated Bollywood studio color with the glossy, slightly overlit look typical of early-2000s Hindi commercial cinema: day interiors in warm tungsten, sweeping crane moves across crowded Mumbai streets, and night sequences of sodium-orange alleys and hazy smoke-filled rooms. Music does a lot of the emotional work, with bouncy filmi songs and swelling strings that jump between romance, mischief and grief, while the action beats arrive with thumping percussion and sharp sound effects. The vibe is brisk, melodramatic and bittersweet, a mix of crime thriller and domestic farce that keeps shifting gears. It suits a lively weekend afternoon or a comfort rewatch where you want a few laughs, a few tears and a shootout or two. Violence is present throughout, with gunfights and fistfights and some menace from the drug trade, but it stays stylised and bloodless rather than graphic, and there is no sexual content beyond light romance. Its pace is busy and episodic, and its people are a reluctant guardian slowly warming to a houseful of children, and a woman with secrets she must protect. For viewers who enjoy big-hearted Hindi cinema, romance and family comedy with a crime backbone.
