The story
The continuing story of Peacemaker, a vainglorious superhero/supervillain who believes in peace at any cost — no matter how many people he has to kill. After a miraculous recovery from his duel with Bloodsport, Peacemaker soon discovers that his freedom comes at a price.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated suburban daylight and garish costume colour set against grimy, fluorescent-lit interiors, with a loud, deliberately cheesy pop-rock soundtrack that cuts sharply to bursts of brutal, slapstick-tinged violence. Handheld camera work and fast cross-cutting give the action a scrappy, chaotic energy, while the quieter scenes hold on awkward faces and mundane domestic spaces. The vibe is irreverent and goofy with an undertow of dark, sour absurdity, the kind of show to put on for a loud, late-night laugh with friends rather than a calm evening alone. Pacing is brisk and episodic, and the emotional register swings between crude humour and sincere vulnerability: a vain, violent man slowly, grudgingly learning to care about a found-family group of misfits. Intensity is high: frequent graphic gore, bloody fights, profanity, crude sexual humour and nudity, with cruelty played for laughs. It is for viewers who enjoy irreverent superhero satire, dark comedy with real bite, and comic-book energy, and it is a poor fit for anyone seeking something gentle or violence-free.
