What it’s like
Bright, cheerful and night-tinted: the game opens on a deep indigo sky under a silver moon, and the pegboards glow in saturated orange, cyan and pink against it, with the launcher and ball trails drawn in clean, flat vector shapes. Its pictographic levels are abstract and playful, and the bouncing ball, the chime of a peg going out and the swelling fanfare of Extreme Fever make up most of the soundtrack. Pacing is quick and rhythmic: each shot takes a few seconds, then the board settles and the next one begins, so it suits short bursts as easily as a long unbroken session. The mood is upbeat and warm, with a light comic streak in the cartoon-animal Peggle Masters and their small Magic Powers, and little real tension beyond the satisfaction of a good rebound. There is no violence, gore or fear, just cartoon collisions and fireworks when a level goes well. It suits a relaxed late evening, a background-while-thinking session, or anyone who wants a cozy, low-stakes puzzle game with a steady stream of small wins, and it has the colour-blind assist options that make it easy to pick up at any level of experience.
