The story
Experience the thrill of flying World War I bi- and triplanes. Defend yourself in spectacular aerial dogfights whilst enemies assault you from all sides. Carry out bombing missions, negotiate enemy AAA fire and outwit your opponents with smart tactical moves. Red Baron Pack offers exciting air-to-air and air-to-ground combat in an age when wooden bi-planes and tri-planes ruled the air.
What it’s like
Pale sky, churned brown earth and the thin pencil-line of trenches unspool beneath a biplane's lower wing, and the whole picture is drawn with the flat, bright clarity of early PC VGA, its sprites and horizons crisp rather than atmospheric. Sound is mostly engine drone, the rattle of machine guns and the distant thump of anti-aircraft fire, with little music to soften it. Flying feels deliberate and weighty: wooden airframes wallow in turns, stall if you push them, and the cockpit instruments demand attention. Pacing alternates between long stretches of quiet patrol over the front and sudden, chaotic dogfights where enemies swarm from several directions at once. The mood is tense, solitary and faintly melancholic, a lone pilot measuring every maneuver against an unforgiving sky. Combat is action-heavy but bloodless; the peril lands as the sting of a shot-up wing and a trailing plume of smoke, never gore, and there is no sexual content. It suits a rainy afternoon at the desk, a patient evening with a joystick, or anyone who loves flight sims with genuine stakes and period texture.
