The story
Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year is the sometimes thoughtless, sometimes thoughtful story of a fresh graduate trying to find a balance between the maddening demands of the 'professional' way, and the way of his heart - and stumbling upon a crazy way which turned his world upside down, and his career right side up. Welcome to the world of sales boss!
What it’s like
Bright, busy office interiors in saturated daylight, with fluorescent-lit cubicles giving way to sunlit Delhi streets, markets and crowded trains, all shot with a restless handheld energy that suits a film about hustle. The palette runs warm and colourful, with bold jeans-and-kurta textures and noisy, cheerful frames. The music is upbeat Bollywood pop with bright horns and dance numbers that punctuate the story. Its vibe is hopeful and scrappy, with a bit of corporate satire in the mix. The pacing is brisk and playful, with sharp comic dialogue, and the emotional register stays light and sincere. Its young protagonist moves from rule-following unease toward a braver, more personal sense of purpose, with a gentle romance threaded through. Intensity is low: mild workplace tension and a few crowd scenes, no real violence, no gore, nothing frightening. It suits a lazy weekend, a feel-good comfort watch, or company on a long flight. It is for viewers who enjoy underdog stories, cheerful Indian cinema, and office comedy with heart.
