The story

Once the greatest hitman of all, Taro Sakamoto retired in the name of love. But when his past catches up, he must fight to protect his beloved family.

What it’s like

Clean, bright animation with bold inked outlines and saturated, sun-washed colour, the look of a suburban convenience-store street in daylight, where the action staging is kinetic and frequently played for laughs. The sound is busy but warm: upbeat orchestral and rock-leaning cues, sharp sound effects for every punch, and the easy rhythms of a family sitcom threaded between the fights. Its vibe is playful, big-hearted action-comedy, with a dash of deadpan parody that makes the violence feel cartoonish rather than grim. Episodes move quickly, with short bursts of combat, slapstick and gags giving way to quieter domestic scenes where a retired legend fusses over his wife, daughter and the shop. The emotional register is affectionate and light, centred on a formidable man learning that protecting the people he loves can be gentler than the work he left behind. Violence is frequent and stylised: fights, gunfire and knife work with blood kept minimal and bruising largely off-screen, so it reads as mock-serious rather than gory, with some threatening menace but no real cruelty. It suits a lazy weekend, a fun binge with friends, or an easy, upbeat watch for people who enjoy shounen action with a family heart and a sense of humour.
