The story

Following Jigsaw's grisly demise, Detective Mark Hoffman is commended as a hero, but Agent Strahm is suspicious, and delves into Hoffman's past. Meanwhile, another group of people are put through a series of gruesome tests.

What it’s like

Grimy, sickly-toned images of decaying industrial spaces: rusted pipes, damp concrete, and sodium-yellow fluorescent corridors, with a bruised green-brown palette that drains warmth from every frame. The camera is mostly handheld and jittery, cutting fast through interrogation rooms and dim, cluttered basements, while flashback fragments flicker in grainy, overexposed blur. The score is a low industrial drone with metallic stabs that spike at the moments of violence, and sound design leans on clanks, breath, and tightening machinery. The mood is paranoid and claustrophobic, with the unease of a procedural crime story bleeding into something mean and punishing. Pacing is brisk and tangled, built on puzzle-like revelations and escalating set pieces. Violence is frequent, graphic, and often sadistic, including torture, bloody injuries, and body horror, with dread and gore both prominent. Not gentle in any sense. It suits viewers who want brutal, twisty horror with a grim procedural undertow, and franchise followers who enjoy cruel traps and cat-and-mouse tension.
