The story

The action continues from [REC], with the medical officer and a SWAT team outfitted with video cameras are sent into the sealed off apartment to control the situation.

What it’s like

Handheld, claustrophobic chaos in tight apartment corridors, shot through the lurching lens of a camera strapped to a SWAT officer's helmet, with the frame jolting between sharp daylight-white flashlight beams and murky green night-vision. Much of it plays in grimy stairwells, cramped rooms and a dark attic, lit by harsh torch glare, flickering emergency bulbs and the cold blue-green wash of infrared. Grain and video noise are constant, the sound is a mess of shouted orders, ragged breathing, clattering debris and sudden shrieks, with almost no score, so the dread comes from what the camera half-sees. Tone is frantic, sweaty and relentlessly tense, a fast, escalating pace with few quiet breaks, and the emotional core is frightened people losing their grip on each other and on what they believe. Violence and gore are frequent and graphic: bloody bites, gruesome wounds, sudden brutal attacks and some disturbing bodily horror, with jump scares throughout. It suits late-night viewing with the lights off, and is best for horror fans who want an intense, found-footage shock ride and are comfortable with heavy gore.
