The story

When a deep space freighter is damaged by a solar flare its surviving crew are stranded on a beautiful and unforgiving planet. They begin to learn the true nature of this planet as they try to survive long enough to escape or be rescued.

What it’s like

Lush, hand-drawn animation with saturated, almost painterly color: jungle greens, bruised purples, glowing alien flora, and vast alien skies that shift between hazy pastel and hard, sun-bleached light. The planet's forests and coral-like growths are rendered with a strange, ornate detail, and the camera often lingers on tiny creatures and textures in long, quiet passes that feel like nature documentary close-ups filtered through a dream. Sound leans on ambient drones, wind and insect chatter, and a sparse, eerie score that drops out entirely in moments of tension, so the silence itself becomes unsettling. The vibe is wondrous and uneasy at once, a sense of beauty that could turn on you without warning. It suits a late night alone, a long-haul flight, or a patient weekend watch when you want something strange and absorbing. Violence is present and can be sudden and bloody, with creature attacks, injuries and some frightening deaths, though it is episodic rather than constant. Tone is melancholy and curious, with dark humour among the crew and slow-burning dread. Pacing is deliberate, with episodes that let mysteries unfold gradually. It is for viewers who enjoy cerebral, adult sci-fi and want their animation to feel strange, tactile and unhurried.
