The story

The Special Edition expands the original Shadow Fight 2 experience by worthwhile improvements. No limitation of energy. The player can jump into the fray anytime and anywhere he wants! A whole new story chapter unveils the truth behind Sensei's past - which adds at least 15 hours of new, exciting gameplay! No advertising! Numerous in-game enhancements, such as higher rewards for victories, which will make it possible to fully enjoy the story mode.

What it’s like

Stark black silhouettes move against painted, misty backdrops of temples, rooftops and moonlit courtyards, with the occasional burst of red or gold from a spell or a sword's arc. The look is close to shadow puppetry: fluid, stylised and clean, with little clutter on screen. Combat is a rhythm game of dodges, counters and weapon swaps, and the soundtrack is driving percussion and taiko-like beats that rise when a fight turns. Violence is bloodless and cartoonish, with demons and magic but no gore and no real menace, so the fear stays light. The Special Edition removes the energy timer and ads, so sessions can be short and unhurried, a few fights on a commute or a long, loose run through the story mode. Its mood is playful and warm rather than bleak, a steady, low-stress rhythm with a gentle sense of progression. It suits players who want satisfying martial-arts action, mild fantasy, and a game they can pick up and set down without pressure.
