The story

Shady Part of Me is a narrative puzzle game. It tells the story of a little girl, frightened by the light, and her shadow. Together, they try to get out of the dreamlike world in which they are locked.

What it’s like

Hand-painted 2D frames with soft watercolour edges, where a small girl and her dark silhouette move through dreamlike rooms, dim corridors and night landscapes lit mostly by lamps, moonlight and the shifting glow of the light itself. The palette is muted, with deep blues and blacks broken by warm yellows, and the shadow's flat darkness becomes the main visual idea, cast onto walls and floors to solve each puzzle. The score is gentle and wistful, leaving room for quiet footsteps and small ambient sounds. Its vibe is tender unease, the feeling of a childhood night that is frightening but not hopeless, suited to a slow evening, a quiet afternoon with headphones, or a patient solo session. Pacing is unhurried, built around experimenting with light and shadow rather than fast reflexes, and the emotional arc follows a frightened child slowly learning to trust the part of herself she has been afraid of. Intensity is low: some tense chases and brief moments of menace, with no gore and little overt violence. It suits players who want a gentle, atmospheric puzzle adventure with an emotional core, and those drawn to thoughtful, illustrated storytelling.
