The story

Yume 2kki is the fanmade "sequel" to the popular RPG maker game, Yume Nikki. In this game, you play as a young girl named Urotsuki and explore your dreams, much like Yume Nikki. The goal of the game is to collect the Effects scattered throughout the dream worlds, which is also similar to its predecessor. However, Yume 2kki is far larger than its prequel and is still growing, as it is currently under development (it's fully functional despite this fact).

What it’s like

Chunky low-resolution pixel art in shifting palettes, from soft pastel dusk to sickly fluorescent green and deep violet night, with a bare, almost handmade quality. Long, quiet walks through empty rooms, sodden forests, and endless corridors unfold at a slow, drifting pace, and the chiptune-leaning ambient tracks thin out into near silence for stretches, broken by a sudden blip or hum. The vibe is dreamy and uncanny, a hazy unease that sits somewhere between wonder and wrongness, best suited to a late night alone or a long, unhurried evening with the lights low. Its scenes shift without warning, and the sense of being lost, with no map and no explanation, is the point. Violence is sparse, but some imagery is grotesque or disturbing, and the horror lands through dread, sudden jolts, and unsettling strangeness rather than sustained gore. It suits people who love wandering a mysterious world for its own sake, who enjoy puzzling out what a place means, and who are comfortable with a game that offers little guidance and a lot of quiet, creeping discomfort.
