The story
The player is tasked with controlling the Batter and guiding him on his quest to "purify" the world of spirits. The player must take the Batter through the various Zones, collect battle partners, solve puzzles and partake in turn-based Active Time Battles in order to get to the source of the impurity.
What it’s like
Crisp, deliberately flat pixel art in sickly pastels and lurching, uncanny backdrops, with a sparse, looping soundtrack of hollow chiptune and long stretches of ambient hum that makes every room feel slightly wrong. Its vibe is eerie and deadpan, a cheerful-looking game that keeps drifting into surreal dread, somewhere between a children's storybook and a fever dream. It suits a late night alone, a curious weekend session, or anyone who likes a game that feels like a private oddity. Pacing is slow and exploratory, with puzzles and small minigames breaking up turn-based battles against spirits and strange creatures. Combat is cartoonish rather than gory, with dread from atmosphere and unsettling imagery more than any real bloodshed. Its tone is wry and mournful, with religious undertones and a talking-animal cast that keeps the mood off-kilter. Best for players who enjoy weird, lo-fi indie RPGs, offbeat humour, and horror that works through mood rather than shock.
