The story

Based on the life of Shakuntala Devi who is a well-known mathematical genius and calculating progidy from India. She has been nicknamed 'Human Computer' because of her extraordinary talent and skill in solving complex mathematical problems without any mechanical aid.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated colour and warm domestic interiors give this biographical drama a lively, sunlit surface, with Indian city streets, cluttered family flats and glossy hotel ballrooms shot in a clean, mobile digital style that moves easily between playful and tender. Its vibe is warm, buoyant and a little bittersweet, the kind of film that suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a comfort rewatch, or an evening when you want something upbeat with emotional heart. Pacing is brisk and musical: quick cuts during number-crunching showpieces give way to slower, quieter scenes between a mother and daughter whose relationship is strained by fame and ambition, and the arc follows a brilliant, headstrong woman learning what her gift costs the people closest to her. Comedy and family drama sit comfortably together, with a score of bouncy, bright pop rhythms underlining the sense of celebration. Intensity is very low: no violence or gore, only mild romantic touches and some emotional arguments. It suits viewers who want an uplifting, character-driven story about family, perseverance and a remarkable real life.
