The story
Jimmy is struggling to grieve the loss of his wife while being a dad, friend, and therapist. He decides to try a new approach with everyone in his path: unfiltered, brutal honesty. Will it make things better—or unleash uproarious chaos?
What it’s like
Warm, sun-washed Los Angeles interiors and cluttered suburban kitchens, shot in soft natural light with a loose, observational camera that lingers on faces during quiet pauses. The palette runs to honeyed wood, faded blues and the pale glare of a bright California afternoon, and the sound is largely dialogue-driven, with light acoustic guitar and mellow pop cues tucked under scenes. The vibe is wry, bruised warmth: a comedy that sits with grief long enough to feel it, then releases the tension with a laugh. It suits a comfort rewatch, a lazy weekend evening, or an episode or two while folding laundry. Pacing is brisk within scenes but unhurried in its silences, and the emotional register swings between dry, profane humor and open tenderness. Its arc follows a grieving therapist who starts telling everyone exactly what he thinks, and slowly learns to let the people around him back in. Intensity is low: swearing, sex talk and adult frankness, some drinking, and emotional bluntness, with no violence and no gore. It is for viewers who want a funny, humane story about loss, friendship and family that never tips into bleakness.
