The story

A comic caper about Happy Singh, a Punjabi villager who goes through a series of misadventures and eventually becomes the King of the Australian underworld.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated studio colour and broad, cheerful framing: sun-drenched Punjabi village fields, then the glossy, over-lit sets and outdoor vistas of Australia, with the camera often sweeping through song sequences and comic set pieces in fast, playful cuts. The sound is loud and percussive, with dhol beats, bouncy Bollywood pop and big slapstick sound effects that keep the energy high. Vibe: loud, goofy, warm and unapologetically silly, the kind of feel-good chaos you put on for a lighthearted Saturday night with friends or a cheerful afternoon when you want to laugh without thinking. The pacing is brisk and episodic, built around escalating gags, dance numbers and a hero whose naive good nature keeps the mood buoyant. Its emotional register is broad and sunny, with the central figure's cheerful bumbling winning over everyone he meets. Intensity is low to moderate: stylised action and fight scenes with plenty of cartoonish violence, no real gore, and romance kept light and non-explicit. Made for viewers who want a big, uncomplicated comedy with music, colour and a hero who means well.
