The story
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a collection of remakes of the first three Spyro the Dragon platformers, originally developed by Insomniac Games for the PlayStation. Rebuilt from scratch in Unreal Engine 4 by Toys for Bob, the trilogy features fully updated visuals, rerecorded voice acting, and a rearranged soundtrack by original composer Stewart Copeland. Players control Spyro, a young dragon, across three games of 3D platforming, collecting gems, rescuing characters, and defeating enemies using fire breath and charging attacks. The collection includes unified gameplay features across all three titles and offers both original and rearranged soundtracks.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated worlds rebuilt with glossy modern lighting: sunlit meadows, lava flows that glow orange against dark rock, and sparkling crystal caverns where the gems catch light in every direction. The camera trails Spyro closely through open hub areas and tight platforming routes, so the feel is airy and playful rather than cramped. Rearranged Stewart Copeland tracks lean into bouncy rock, reggae-tinged grooves, and jaunty brass, while the original chiptune-era motifs return for those who want them. The vibe is sunny, cheerful, and easy to settle into, the kind of game that suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a comfort replay, or a stretch of casual play with a controller in hand. Pacing is unhurried: gem collecting and exploration come first, with occasional bursts of challenge in boss fights and timed sections. Intensity is mild. Enemies are cartoonish and defeated with fire breath and charges, with no gore, blood, or real threat, and the tone stays warm and lightly comic throughout. It is made for families, nostalgic players returning to the originals, and anyone who wants a gentle, colourful platformer with no pressure.
