The story

TEMPEST Wade Magallen led the life of a devil-may-care bachelor until Storm Roemer tamed his wild heart and calmed his hotheaded ways. But a devastating secret made him send away the most breathtaking girl in Wyoming -- and with her, his one chance at happiness. As gentle as a breeze, yet as strong willed as a gale, Storm returned to Laramie after years of trying to forget Wade. One look at the handsome cowboy unleashed a torrent of longing she couldn't deny, no matter what obstacle stood between them. Storm only had to decide if she'd win Wade back with a love as sweet as summer rain -- or a whirlwind of passion that would leave him begging for more.

What it’s like

Sun-bleached Wyoming prairie and dusty Laramie streets, rendered in plain, warm, unhurried prose: wide open skies, sagebrush flats, the smell of horses and woodsmoke, and the small domestic interiors of a frontier town where lamplight and kitchen work carry as much weight as the landscape. The voice is brisk and romantic, leaning on lush emotional language and a steady drumbeat of longing glances and charged reunions rather than action set pieces. Its vibe is old-fashioned, sweeping western romance with a bodice-ripper glow: earnest, heated, and a little melodramatic. It suits a lazy afternoon with a cup of coffee, a comfort read on a long train ride, or a weekend when you want a sweeping love story set against the frontier. The pacing is steady and emotionally driven, with a second-chance arc in which a restless, proud cowboy and a determined woman circle back toward each other through secrets and pride. Sensual content is present and fairly explicit for the genre, with some rough edges and period attitudes; violence is occasional and not graphic, and danger comes more from social pressure and misunderstanding than from gore. It is for readers who love historical romance, second-chance passion, and frontier settings, and who don't mind a heated, melodramatic register.
