The story

After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop and Rocksteady, to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated daylight and busy city nights, with the big CGI set-pieces shot in fast, kinetic movement: handheld-feeling rooftop chases, sweeping crane shots over New York, and a glossy digital finish that favours bold primaries and neon-lit alleyways. The sound is loud and playful, a synth-and-rock score punctuated by quips, cartoonish sound effects and the thwack of martial-arts fights. The vibe is hyper, goofy and high-energy, with a friendly, sometimes slapstick comedy that suits a Saturday-afternoon watch, a family movie night, or something upbeat to put on while distracted. Pacing is relentless, with action beats stacked closely together and only brief pauses for the brothers to bicker and reconcile, so the emotional register stays light and warm rather than heavy. The four turtles' squabbling, affectionate bond and Michelangelo's easy humour carry most of the feeling, and the story keeps returning to the idea of a found family. Intensity is moderate: lots of martial-arts action, cartoon-style battle damage and villains being tossed around, with little blood and no real menace or gore. It is gentle in its scares and sits comfortably with younger viewers and fans of the franchise who want something loud, colourful and easy to enjoy.
