The story

Play as both Gabriel and Grace as they are dispatched to Munich to solve a series of mutilation murders thought to be the work of werewolves.

What it’s like

Live-action full motion video gives this 1995 point-and-click its distinctive look: grainy, slightly soft footage of actors against painted and photographed backdrops, with the moody, low-lit palette of a 90s thriller, candlelit interiors, wet cobbled streets, and the cold blue-grey of Bavarian winter. Camera work is mostly static and theatrical, cutting between close-ups of actors in mid-conversation and wide establishing shots of old Munich. The soundtrack leans on brooding orchestral and synth-tinged swells, with voice acting that ranges from earnest to hammy, and the mood is gothic and playful at once. Violence is off-screen or implied, with brief, dark mutilation scenes and a steady undercurrent of unease rather than gore. The pace is slow and conversational, built around puzzles, research, and dialogue, with a sly, profanity-tinged wit. Two protagonists alternate chapters, and their relationship and the question of who to trust carry much of the emotional weight. The vibe is moody, bookish, and a little campy: a rainy-evening detective game for players who enjoy old-school adventure puzzles and gothic atmosphere, with mild horror and little tolerance for gratuitous violence.
