The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition presents one of the best RPGs of all time like never before. Step inside the most richly detailed and vibrant gameworld ever created. With a powerful combination of freeform gameplay and unprecedented graphics, you can unravel the main quest at your own pace or explore the vast world and find your own challenges. Also included in the 5th Anniversary Edition are The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Knights of the Nine and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Shivering Isles expansion packs, adding new and unique quests and content to the already massive world of Oblivion, the original "making of" DVD, map, the Skyrim trailer. See why critics called Oblivion the Best Game of 2006.
What it’s like
Sweeping vistas of green hills, misted forest paths and ancient ruined towers in bright, saturated daylight, with the soft-focus haze of an early-2010s open-world game and a rich, rolling orchestral score that swells over distant roads and then falls quiet in the wilderness. Its vibe is wide-open and unhurried, a comfortable fantasy escape with a faint undercurrent of mystery, best suited to a long weekend session, an evening of wandering without a destination, or a relaxed solo playthrough on a rainy afternoon. Pacing is entirely self-directed: you wander between roadside shrines, villages and dungeon entrances at whatever speed suits you, with side quests that drift into strange, whimsical detours. Tone stays mostly light and curious, with occasional eerie or grim moments in the Shivering Isles' surreal realm and the shadowy ruins of Knights of the Nine. Violence is present in the form of sword-and-spell combat against bandits, monsters and undead, cartoonish in its blood and never lingering, with no sexual content. It suits players who want a sprawling, low-pressure fantasy world to lose themselves in, and who don't mind clunky edges in exchange for an enormous, explorable landscape.
