The story
This bundle is "The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures" and "The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve" in one package. Play as Ryunosuke Naruhodo, ancestor of Phoenix Wright, to solve mysteries and defend clients with the ace detective Herlock Sholmes across both England and Japan.
What it’s like
Warm, hand-painted anime sprites sit against richly detailed Meiji-era backdrops: gaslit London fog, lantern-lit Yokohama streets, and the pale wood and paper of colonial courtrooms, all rendered in a palette of ochres, indigo and soft lamplight. Camera work is essentially static, with the screen cutting between framed portraits, close-ups on a suspect's twitching hands, and sudden exaggerated zooms when a contradiction lands. The score leans on jaunty harpsichord and brass, shifting to a tense, ticking strings when a witness starts to crack, and the soundtrack is often more memorable than the scenery. The vibe is brisk, wry and cheerfully theatrical, the kind of game for a rainy afternoon on the couch, a few cases at a time, or a relaxed evening with headphones on. Pacing is driven by reading and deduction: long dialogue runs punctuated by courtroom "objection" showdowns and slow-burn investigations. The emotional register is comedic with real tenderness underneath, following a young lawyer-in-training and his unlikely partnership with an eccentric British detective as their trust deepens over the course of two games. Violence is offstage and mostly implied; murders are discussed and shown in restrained illustrations, with occasional tension and some grim historical themes like prejudice and wrongful accusation. Suited to fans of mystery and courtroom drama who want clever puzzles, humour and a gentle sense of history.
