The story

A teacher lives a lonely life, all the while struggling over his son’s custody. His life slowly gets better as he finds love and receives good news from his son, but his new luck is about to be brutally shattered by an innocent little lie.

What it’s like

Cold Danish winter light, pale and flat, with bare birches, frosted fields and hunting forests drained of color, and a handheld camera that stays close to faces so every glance and flinch registers. Interiors glow amber against the cold outside, and the score is sparse and low, rising only when the dread does. The mood is bleak, claustrophobic and slow-burning, a community turning on one man as a rumor spreads through a small town. Violence is sudden and brief, including a few hard physical confrontations and a dog's death, and the central accusation involves child sexual abuse, which is discussed, feared and implied but never shown. Expect sustained emotional cruelty, public humiliation and a steady, grinding unease rather than gore. It suits a serious evening alone, not a light or comforting watch, and is for viewers who want an unflinching, morally tangled drama about guilt, mob certainty and a life coming apart.
