The story

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd is the third installment in the main Trails series, serving as a direct sequel to the events of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC and the ending to the Liberl arc. The game follows Kevin Graham and Ries Argent in their quest to retrieve an ancient artifact for the Septian Church. Featuring the largest cast of playable characters in the Trails series up to that point, new minigames and even more gameplay features. This game teasing many new plot developments across the continent of Zemuria.

What it’s like

Bright, painterly anime portraits sit over lush, sunlit 3D towns and countryside, with cloud-dappled skies, stone bridges, and tidy market squares that feel lived-in and warm. Camera and framing stay fairly conventional, so the appeal lies in wandering: walking between towns along winding roads, pausing for conversation under open daylight, and watching the cast's banter unfold in cheerful, expressive dialogue scenes. The soundtrack is brisk and melodic, with lively battle themes and gentle town melodies that give it a bright, adventurous energy. Turn-based battles are stylish and rhythmic, and the story moves in long, unhurried episodes, shifting now and then into quieter, more serious stretches. Intensity is mild: fantasy combat with stylised, non-graphic violence, no gore, and only occasional darker moments of threat and loss. Overall it feels like a comfortable, sprawling travelogue for players who enjoy character-driven journeys, long evenings with a controller, and a steady, low-stress sense of discovery.
