The story
A small town family is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other.
What it’s like
Muted, overcast colour, with grey skies, damp woods and dim interiors, and the white mist itself as a slow, looming presence that swallows the streets and treelines. Its atmosphere is cold and uneasy: a small Maine town where ordinary rooms feel closed in, and the fog turns familiar places strange. The score and sound design lean on low tension and sudden unsettling noise, so quiet stretches carry as much dread as the set pieces. Pacing is deliberate, with long stretches of family strain and grief building toward eruptions of creature horror. Expect supernatural and psychological dread, some gore and violence from the creatures, and a brutal crime and suicide at the story's core that land heavily. This is not gentle viewing. It suits people who want slow-burn, bleak horror with a strong family drama underneath, watched in the dark, and who are comfortable with heavy emotional material and frightening imagery.
