The story

When troubled musical prodigy Charlotte seeks out Elizabeth, the new star pupil of her former school, the encounter sends both musicians down a sinister path with shocking consequences.

What it’s like

Glossy, cool-toned frames of a sleek conservatory and high-rise hotel suites, with hard daylight, white marble, and saturated reds bleeding into the image, give it a polished, uneasy surface. Camera moves are fluid and deliberately stylized, with split-screen flashes, sudden jump cuts, and sustained cello lines set against a pulsing electronic undertow. The feel is sleek and sharp-edged rather than cozy: a pop-thriller sheen over something nasty. The vibe is chilly, glamorous and darkly comic. Pacing is brisk and escalates into a long, deliberately grotesque final act. Intensity is high, with graphic gore and body horror including amputation, brutal violence, revenge-driven cruelty, sexual content and nudity, and strong profanity; dread and shock land more than suspense. The emotional register is envy, rivalry and obsession, as two driven women circle each other in a mentor-protégé dynamic that turns predatory. Not suited to anyone wanting gentleness. For viewers who enjoy horror-thrillers with stylish surfaces, classical-music settings, and twisty, transgressive revenge.
