The story
After Homer accidentally pollutes the town's water supply, Springfield is encased in a gigantic dome by the EPA and the Simpsons are declared fugitives.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated cel animation with the familiar yellow-skinned Springfield palette, then a sudden shift into wider, grimier frames once the town's water turns murky and the skyline is walled off under a glassy dome. Sight gags land in crisp, bold outlines, and the big-screen scale gives the familiar streets and the Alaska wilderness a sweeping, cinematic lift that the TV show rarely reaches. Sound leans on the show's warm, jangly theme and Hans Zimmer-style orchestral swells used for mock-epic moments, with rapid-fire dialogue and frequent sight gags stacked up in quick succession. The vibe is loud, irreverent, and affectionately chaotic, the kind of comfort-comedy you can put on for a lazy Friday night or a group watch. Its pacing is brisk and jokey, with the emotional core resting on a bumbling father and his kids slowly repairing their strained relationship. Intensity is mild: cartoon slapstick, a few peril scenes, some crude humour and brief rude language, but no gore and nothing truly frightening. It suits fans of the show, families with older kids, and anyone wanting goofy, good-natured satire.
