The story
Navy SEAL Commander James Reece turns to vengeance as he investigates the mysterious forces behind the murder of his entire platoon. Free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons he's learned from nearly two decades of warfare to hunt down the people responsible.
What it’s like
Gritty, desaturated daylight and sweaty interiors dominate, with hard shadows under overcast Southern California skies and the grey-green wash of tactical night-vision footage cutting through the drama. Camera work is mostly handheld and close, pressing into faces and gear, with quick cuts during firefights and slower, sombre framing during quiet scenes of grief in bare apartments and motel rooms. The score leans on low synth drones and tense percussion, with the occasional stripped-back guitar line when the story pauses. Vibe: bleak, stern, revenge-driven, a thriller to watch with the lights on and full attention. The pacing is brisk, with long stretches of conspiracy-chasing punctuated by bursts of violence that are frequent and often graphic: gunfights, bloody wounds, and beatings, with some torture and a fair amount of cruelty, plus strong language and a brief sexual scene. The emotional register is grim and hardened, following a traumatised veteran who sheds his military discipline and slowly reckons with loss and what he is willing to become. Best suited to viewers who enjoy military thrillers and revenge stories with a serious, unsentimental tone and can handle sustained brutality.
