The story

A grim drama that unfolds against the backdrop of a global catastrophe. An unknown new virus turns Moscow into a city of the dead. Money loses its value and those not yet infected struggle desperately for food and survival.

What it’s like

Bleak, sober, and unhurried in its dread, this series suits viewers who want the quiet horror of a city emptied out rather than spectacle. It is set in a Moscow that has gone silent and deserted after an unknown virus, and the mood follows from that: long stretches of hollow streets, the weight of abandoned routines, and the constant strain of scarcity, where money has stopped meaning anything and people are measured by what they can hold onto. The register is grim and tense rather than cozy, with a steady undercurrent of fear and grief. The emotional arcs centre on ordinary people pushed into hard choices as the city's order falls apart, so the appeal is in the slow pressure and moral unease more than in any escape. Expect death, desperation and danger to be present throughout; this is not gentle viewing. It is for people drawn to post-apocalyptic drama, to stories of survival in a collapsing society, and to atmospheres that feel isolated, uneasy and heavy.
