The story

An elite Navy SEAL uncovers an international conspiracy while seeking justice for the murder of his pregnant wife.

What it’s like

Gritty, desaturated night work: murky blue-grey interiors, sodium-orange streetlight, and the dull glare of safehouse fluorescents, shot with a restless handheld camera that stays close to bodies in motion. Director Stefano Sollima favours tight, jostling action over sweeping spectacle, so gunfights feel abrupt and claustrophobic, with muffled impacts, ringing silences, and a heavy, pulsing electronic score that swells under the bass. The palette is cold and scuffed, with rain-slick Baltic streets, bare concrete, and dim military corridors. Pacing is relentless in the set pieces and briefly reflective in the grief scenes, where the camera lingers on a man's stillness. Its vibe is bleak, grim and single-minded, best suited to a late-night watch with the lights off. The violence is frequent and graphic: shootings, close-quarters brutality, bloody injuries and torture-adjacent cruelty, with some dread and a handful of sexual references but no nudity. It suits viewers who want a hard-edged, humourless revenge thriller and are comfortable with sustained brutality.
