The story

Lone-wolf survivalist Colter Shaw roams the country as a “reward seeker,” using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve all manner of mysteries while contending with his own fractured family.

What it’s like

Wide, sunlit landscapes do much of the work here: dusty roads through open country, pine and scrub, rivers and ridgelines shot in clean daylight and warm golden hour, with the camera often pulling back to show a lone figure against the terrain. Tracking scenes lean on close looks at boot prints, broken branches and weather-worn ground, while interiors stay bright and ordinary. The score is a steady, cinematic swell that rises for chases and eases into quiet for reflective beats. The vibe is earnest, sun-warmed and quietly admiring of competence, with a dash of crime-of-the-week suspense. Pacing is episodic and unhurried, with each case building to a clear resolution and a slower thread about family strain running underneath. Violence is present but restrained: brief scuffles, threats and peril, with no gore and little lingering cruelty. It suits a Sunday afternoon, a background evening, or anyone who wants a capable outdoorsman solving puzzles, for viewers who like procedural mysteries with a wilderness setting and a gentle, hopeful tone.
