The story
A remake of Type-Moon's classic doujin game Tsukihime, featuring a rewritten scenario with major differences in its setting and plot, as well as several new characters.
What it’s like
Rain-dark Japanese streets and moonlit mansion corridors, rendered in crisp, painterly 2D sprites set against rich, layered backgrounds, with portraits that flare in saturated reds and cold blues whenever a scene turns tense. Music leans on lush orchestral strings and mournful piano that swell into vampiric dread, while quieter passages settle into soft ambient hum and the clack of footsteps on old wooden floors. It is a visual novel, so the experience is one of reading at your own pace: long stretches of narration and dialogue in a lightly stylised, literary voice, punctuated by branching choices that change who you follow and how the story unfolds. The mood is melancholic and eerie, with a slow-burn sense of gothic unease and a few sudden, sharp jolts. Violence is present and can be graphic in its bloody, supernatural set pieces, along with fear and some grim body horror, though it is handled in text and stills rather than constant gore. Sexual content appears in the form of suggestive scenes in some routes. Best suited to readers who enjoy atmospheric gothic horror, moody fantasy, and patient, character-driven storytelling on a quiet evening.
