The story

After getting into a near fatal car accident, Alma discovers she has a new relationship with time and uses this ability to find out the truth about her father’s death.

What it’s like

Rotoscoped figures move over live-action-derived backgrounds in a shifting, hand-traced line that wobbles like heat haze, so every ordinary room, parking lot and suburban kitchen feels slightly unmoored. The palette runs to warm ochres, bruised purples and sickly fluorescent greens, with saturated flashes of colour when time folds back on itself. Camera work is restless but intimate, lingering in close two-shots and kitchen-table silences, and the editing jumps across days and memories without much warning. The score leans on ambient synth drones and pulsing electronic textures that rise into something hallucinatory and then drop back to near quiet. The vibe is uneasy and dreamlike, a mix of grief, family friction and psychedelic disorientation, best suited to a late night alone or a patient, attentive evening rather than background viewing. Its pace is slow and deliberate, with arcs about a young woman learning to live inside her trauma, and a family slowly confronting what it has been avoiding. Violence is limited but present: a traumatic car crash, moments of physical confrontation and some frank adult content, with occasional strong language. Intense in mood more than in gore. For viewers who want an unsettling, visually inventive drama about memory, loss and family secrets.
