The story

Return to the Age of Chaos and wage war against live Orc and Human opponents with the same skill and fearless intensity you lived and breathed in your Warcraft: Orcs and Humans career. Put your skills to the ultimate test in the most epic Warcraft II battles ever. Champions looking for the authentic experience can play the game as it was in 1999, with period-appropriate SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net online-gaming service or LAN, allowing real-time combat with up to eight players.

What it’s like

Chunky isometric battlefields rendered in bright, saturated SVGA palettes: lush green forests, grey stone keeps, and the orange-red glow of burning villages under a flat daylight sky. Units are small, hand-animated sprites with a sturdy, slightly comic bounce, and the fog of war rolls back in soft black across unexplored maps. The sound is a martial, chest-thumping orchestral score that loops under clattering axes, crossbow thunks, and the clipped, cheerful barks of peasants and grunts ("Job's done!"). Vibe: busy, bright and competitive, with an old-school LAN-party buzz. It suits an evening of focused play, a weekend session with friends, or nostalgic tinkering on an old PC. Pacing is brisk and escalating, with constant micromanagement, base-building and sudden clashes that can turn in a minute. Violence is cartoonish and bloodless: units explode into puffs of smoke and fall with little more than a flash, so the intensity is high in tension but low in gore. Built for strategy fans who enjoy tactical competition, RTS veterans revisiting the classic online era, and players who want a fast, fun, non-graphic fantasy war.
