The story

Be the last hope against the mutant infestation. Enter the aftermath of a scientific experiment gone horribly wrong. Xenowerk is a top-down action shooter challenging your combat skills in an underground science lab. Descend deeper into the abyss and explore the tarnished levels. Armed with a flashlight as your main guidance, you’ll never know what’s lurking in the dark!

What it’s like

Dim, cramped corridors lit mostly by the cone of your own flashlight, with sickly green emergency glow and sparks from flickering wall panels breaking the murk. The top-down view keeps you at a distance from the lab's rusted machinery and organic growths, so every swing of the beam feels like a small act of nerve. Sound does much of the work: metallic echoes, distant wet skittering, and sudden stingers when something moves at the edge of the light, with long stretches of near silence between firefights. Gunfire is punchy and arcade-bright, and the blood is cartoonish rather than gory, so the fear is more about being caught in the dark than about gore. The pace is brisk and repetitive in the way of a run-and-gun, with pockets of tense creeping and a steady climb deeper underground. Vibe: claustrophobic, pulpy, sci-fi horror-lite. It suits a late evening on a phone or tablet, a short session with a bit of adrenaline, or a stretch of commute time. Combat is moderate and stylised, with creature violence and mild dread but no sexual content. It is for players who like twitchy top-down shooting, dim atmospheric labs, and a light horror edge without heavy gore.
