The story

Ys returns with a brand new adventure for the first time in 8 years! Adol awakens shipwrecked and stranded on a cursed island. There, he and the other shipwrecked passengers he rescues form a village to challenge fearsome beasts and mysterious ruins on the isolated island.

What it’s like

Bright tropical daylight over turquoise water and lush jungle canopies, with sun-washed beaches giving way to stone ruins and dim, torchlit caverns, all rendered in crisp anime-styled 3D with painterly skies and vivid, saturated color. The soundtrack leans on driving rock and orchestral fanfare during fights, then loosens into breezy, melodic island themes while exploring, so the whole thing feels like an adventurous summer afternoon with a sense of mystery underneath. Its rhythm is that of a classic action RPG: quick, combo-driven battles against big monsters, punctuated by long stretches of gathering materials, chatting with castaways, and building a settlement one small favor at a time. Tone is upbeat and earnest with a light, teasing humor, though the island's cursed history brings a touch of wistful melancholy. Violence is cartoonish sword-and-magic combat with no gore and no sexual content, and the fear level stays modest. Good for players who want a cozy-adventurous fantasy to sink into over many evenings, enjoying side quests, character banter, and the slow pleasure of turning a wrecked crew into a thriving village.
