The story
A young man tries to revive his parents' wilting marriage by traveling to the 1970s when their romance was budding to help make it bloom: something more complex than he expects.
What it’s like
Bright, glossy studio colour and easy, sunlit warmth: saturated 1970s costumes, flared collars, pastel and mustard interiors, and wide, cheerful framing that favours big comic reactions and musical numbers over quiet observation. The soundtrack is bouncy and melodic, with pop-leaning songs that cut in mid-scene, and the dialogue runs fast and playful. The mood is light, sunny and silly, a comfort watch with a gentle sense of nostalgia for an era rendered as much brighter than it ever was. Pacing is brisk and episodic, with broad physical comedy and running jokes carrying the middle, and the romance is sweet and affectionate rather than heavy. Along the way a young man's attempts to nudge his parents back toward each other turn into a lighter, funnier look at how people fall in love. Intensity is very low: slapstick tumbles and mild comic peril, with no real violence, gore or sexual content. It suits a relaxed weekend afternoon, a family viewing, or a mood for something feel-good and unpretentious. It is for viewers who want escapism, bright colour, music and affable comedy.
