The story
An ancient evil has returned to Baldur's Gate, intent on devouring it from the inside out. The fate of Faerun lies in your hands. Alone, you may resist. But together, you can overcome.
What it’s like
Painterly fantasy under a warm, shifting sky: lush forests, candlelit taverns, and ruined temples rendered in rich, dense detail, with a camera that pulls back to show whole battlefields and tilts close for intimate conversations. The soundtrack moves between sweeping orchestral swells, quiet lute and fiddle in the inns, and sudden stingers when combat begins, while the turn-based battles build a steady, deliberate rhythm of planning and payoff. The vibe is dark-hearted but playful, a mix of grim dread and sly wit, suited to long evenings with a controller, weekend marathons, or a patient co-op night with friends. Pacing is unhurried: hours of exploring, chatting, crafting and rolling dice give way to tense set-piece fights. Its tone leans on companionship and moral compromise, with characters who slowly reveal their scars and secrets as you travel with them. Violence is frequent and bloody, with dismemberment, gore and grisly body horror, and there are dark themes, demonic imagery and some sexual content. It is for players who want deep character customisation, consequential choices and a fantasy world that rewards curiosity.
