The story

BioShock Infinite: The Complete Edition is a re-release of BioShock Infinite including all its downloadable content.

What it’s like

Gilded Art Deco grandeur floating in a bright, sun-washed sky: the airborne city of Columbia gleams in white marble, bunting, and stained glass, then tilts into dim, rain-slicked dread as the game shifts between these two faces. The palette swings from cream, gold, and cerulean to sickly sepia and grime, and lighting carries much of the storytelling, with sunlit boulevards giving way to flickering, shadowed corridors. Sound design leans on barbershop-style ragtime and period jingles drifting over distant gunfire, with long stretches of wind and rushing clouds filling the quieter moments. Hand-drawn-feeling environments and vivid, painterly skies make the world feel like a fever dream of 1912 America, and the combat is loud, fast, and frequently chaotic, with brief but brutal violence, flashes of gore, and tense, menacing encounters. Its pacing swings between lush, open exploration and kinetic firefights, while the emotional arc follows a hard-edged man confronting his past and a young woman who must reckon with her own captivity. Best suited to players who want a sweeping, morally tangled story with a strong sense of place, and who can handle intense shooting and grim themes.
