The story

BioShock Remastered was released as a part of BioShock: The Collection and also available separately for PC. The remastered version has achievements, full controller support, high resolution textures, models and interface, and 4K resolution support.

What it’s like

Art deco grandeur rotting into decay: the underwater city of Rapture is rendered in amber lamplight, flickering neon, and sea-green gloom, with sweeping ocean-floor vistas and cramped, grimy corridors where splashes of colour from ads and posters stand out against peeling paint. The soundscape leans on a 1940s jazz and radio score that crackles through speakers, broken by the wet hum of machinery, distant screams, and the eerie gurgle of water. Pacing alternates between slow, tense exploration and bursts of frantic combat, with a steady undercurrent of unease. Violence is frequent and sometimes graphic, with gunfire, melee strikes, and grotesque mutated enemies; there is blood and some disturbing imagery but no sexual content. The emotional register is dark and philosophical, with a shifting, morally loaded arc about power, choice, and control. Best suited to players who enjoy atmospheric, story-driven horror-shooters and an unsettling sense of place, in a moody late-night session rather than a light, gentle one.
