The story

Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth entry in the Resident Evil series. Experience terrifying survival horror with FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, and dive into pulse-pounding action with legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy. Both of their journeys and unique gameplay styles intertwine into a heart-stopping, emotional experience that will chill you to your core.

What it’s like

Cramped, sickly interiors lit by flickering fluorescents and the pale wash of a flashlight beam, with the camera close over the shoulder so every corridor feels like it's pressing in. The palette runs to bruised greens, rust and clinical white, and the sound design does much of the work: dripping pipes, distant moans, a heartbeat-thin score that drops out just before something lunges. Sequences alternate between tense creeping through dark spaces and sudden, loud firefights with grotesque enemies, and the rhythm is built on scarcity, scavenging, and returning to earlier rooms with new tools. Its mood is dread-soaked and grim, with a stubborn thread of grief running under the terror, following two protagonists whose paths slowly converge as one tries to hold on to who she is. Violence is frequent and graphic, with gore, bodily horror and jump-scare moments; fear is the main register rather than gentleness. Built for players who want sustained, claustrophobic survival horror and can stomach a lot of blood, not for anyone seeking calm or low-stakes play.
