The story

The sci-fi survival-horror classic Dead Space returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up to offer a deeper, more immersive experience. This remake brings jaw-dropping visual fidelity, suspenseful atmospheric audio, and improvements to gameplay while staying faithful to the original game’s thrilling vision.

What it’s like

Cold blue-grey corridors lit by flickering work lights, sickly green holograms and the sudden orange flare of emergency strobes, with the mining ship Ishimura rendered in dense, grimy industrial detail: rusted hull plates, coiled cables, frosted viewport glass and blood smeared across bulkheads. The camera sits close over Isaac Clarke's shoulder, so the world feels tight and claustrophobic, and the soundscape does much of the work: distant metallic groans, vents hissing, a low drone under near-silence that spikes into sudden shrieks. Its vibe is bleak, tense and industrial, sitting somewhere between cold dread and grim momentum, best suited to a late night with headphones on or a dark, uninterrupted evening when you want to be genuinely on edge. Pacing is methodical, with long stretches of corridor exploration and resource-scavenging punctuated by ambushes; the emotional register is isolation and grief, following a lone engineer who slowly unravels as he searches for his missing girlfriend. The horror is intense and frequent: gore is explicit, with dismemberment and bodies torn apart by creatures, and jump scares are constant, so this is not gentle viewing. Made for players who want survival horror that is atmospheric, tactile and unsettling, and who don't mind being scared for hours.
