The story

Ready for the biggest score of your career? Moxxi has just the job for you, sugar: a good old-fashioned heist. Battle your way through Hyperion forces, crazed casino-goers, and claim your loot!

What it’s like

Bright, saturated neon over a gaudy casino: hot pinks, electric teals and gold trim glowing against the grimy grey of Pandora's wastes, with the cel-shaded cartoon look of Borderlands softened by cheeky, fast-cut ricochets of gunfire and confetti-coloured explosions. The sound is brassy lounge music, slot-machine chimes and exaggerated shotgun cracks, with a sly, wisecracking voice cast that keeps the mood playful. Movement is quick and bouncy, the camera tight and kinetic through corridors of flashing signage, and the pacing is that of a loot-hunting romp in short bursts, each room a fresh showdown. The vibe is loud, giddy and mischievous, a rowdy Saturday-night caper for an evening with friends or a playful solo session when you want chaos without much weight. Violence is constant but stylised and cartoonish, with bloodless splatter and comic-book blasts rather than realistic gore, and there's some crude, sexy innuendo in the dialogue. It suits fans of looter-shooters who like sharp humour, co-op banter and a spectacle of colour more than a serious story.
