The story

Kenai finds his childhood human friend Nita and the two embark on a journey to burn the amulet he gave to her before he was a bear, much to Koda's dismay.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated hand-drawn animation with soft watercolour-style backdrops of pine forest, misty mountain valleys and sunlit meadows, the palette warm greens, golden browns and cool blue shadows. Its look is storybook-simple rather than painterly: rounded character designs, gentle cuts between wide landscape shots and close, expressive faces, and the sense of open air and sunlight on fur. Music is a light, brass-and-strings score with a few bouncy folk-pop songs, the sound of wind through trees and a rushing river in the background. The vibe is cosy, easy and mildly bittersweet, suited to a lazy weekend afternoon, a child's movie night, or a comfort watch when you want something uncomplicated. Pacing is brisk and episodic, with playful comic beats between Koda and his brother and a gentle arc about old friendship and letting go. Intensity is very low: some slapstick tumbles, a few tense moments of pursuit and a brief scuffle, but no real violence, gore, or fear that lingers. It suits families with young children and anyone who wants a gentle, warm-hearted animated film about loyalty, nature, and the bonds that change as we grow.
