The story
Campus Diaries is a coming-of-age drama of six students at Excel University. But this one is so-not-your-regular-college-drama because it goes beyond the routine frolic and friendship plots that quintessential youth dramas portray and tackles relevant yet lesser discussed issues like ragging, discrimination based on societal biases, one sided love stories, rampant drug abuse and toxic relationships that mould your personality and ready you to face the real world.
What it’s like
Earnest, socially direct youth drama with comic undertones, following a group of six students across a college campus. Its tone sits between lighthearted and sobering, so the pleasures are in the ensemble and the conversations more than in any signature look or sound. Expect a steady, episodic rhythm that alternates campus humour with heavier material. Its issues are the main draw: ragging, discrimination rooted in social prejudice, one-sided love, drug use and toxic relationships are treated openly rather than as background texture, so the emotional register shifts from light to tense and sad. The arcs follow young people being shaped by these pressures as they get ready for adult life. The intensity is dramatic and emotionally heavy, with drug abuse and bullying onscreen as subjects, though it is not framed as horror or spectacle. It suits viewers who want a grounded college story that deals with hard realities, and who are comfortable with serious themes alongside comedy.
