The story

A port of Cuphead that was released as a part of Tesla’s 10.0 software update. Due to the Tesla hardware of the time, the game only featured the first world of the game. In December 2022, the port was made obsolete in certain Tesla models due to a software update which adds Steam connectivity.

What it’s like

Hand-inked cartoon frames animated in the rubber-hose style of 1930s cartoons, with grainy sepia-toned backdrops, bold outlines and bouncing, lively character movement, all on a moving screen. The sound leans on jazzy big-band numbers and bright, twangy brass that loops across each stage, with stings of crackling record noise and cheerful cartoon sound effects. The vibe is brash and playful, a sharp, sweaty arcade energy with a retro cheek. Fights come in tight, rhythmic bursts: you dodge, parry and fire in quick gulps, and the pace stays high even when you are failing and retrying. Intensity is cartoonish: the boss fights are frequent and frustrating, with mild violence that reads as slapstick, and nothing graphic, gory or sexual. Death animations are comic. Best for people who want a challenging, stylish single-player run in a comic-strip world, the kind of game to sink into in short bursts on a rainy afternoon, or to show off to friends who love old cartoons and hard-edged arcade play.
