The story

Devil May Cry HD Collection is a collection of high-definition remasters of the PS2 games of the first three games in the Devil May Cry franchise. In addition to the reworked graphics, it also contains trophies/achievements.

What it’s like

Gothic excess rendered in sharper, brighter HD: crumbling cathedral halls, rain-slick courtyards, and demon bodies that burst into rivers of red orbs under bright, saturated lighting that makes the blood and sparks pop against stone and dark leather. The camera is locked in fixed, cinematic angles that swing as you move through rooms, so the screen often feels like a stage set built for showmanship. Music leans on hard rock guitar and grinding industrial riffs, with long, theatrical pauses between fights where the silence lands as a held breath. The vibe is brash, stylish and self-aware, a mix of swagger and dark camp, best suited to an evening of focused play with friends in the room or a solo session when you want something loud and kinetic. Pacing is relentless once a battle starts, with quick restarts and mission-based rhythms that reward repetition. Intensity is high: frequent stylised violence, gore and bloodshed, dread-tinged horror imagery, and bursts of crude humour, but no sexual content. It suits players who love combo-driven action, arcade-style mastery and a flamboyant antihero, and who enjoy trophy hunting and replaying for higher ranks.
