The story

Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga is a package deal where you get Ego Draconis and expansion content called Flames of Vengeance, along with a few extra goodies.

What it’s like

Warm, storybook-lit fantasy with a painterly, slightly storybook look: sunlit meadows, mossy ruins, torch-lit crypts and rain-soaked cliffs rendered in saturated greens, ochres and deep blues, the camera pulled back in a fixed isometric angle that keeps the wide landscapes in view. The soundscape is orchestral and lush, with rolling drums and horns during battle giving way to quiet pads and birdsong when you wander. Its vibe is adventurous and mildly whimsical, with a steady undercurrent of melancholy around ruined cities and dragon-bound destiny. Combat is tactical but unhurried: you pause and plan with spells, summons, archery and alchemy, and the fights involve plenty of blood-free slashing, undead and goblins rather than graphic gore, though monsters fall in showy bursts of light and sparks. Progression is the heart of the experience, with leveling up, skill points, attributes and loot piling up in satisfying bundles, and the story's tone stays mostly earnest and adventurous with light humour. Violence is frequent and stylised, fear is minimal, and there's no sexual content. This suits players who want a long, cosy-yet-engaging single-player quest to sink into over many evenings, especially fans of classic isometric RPGs who enjoy building a character over time.
